PONGPAITHAM KLAJON : SENSE OF COHERENCES, STRESS AND COPING METHODS OF FAMILY CAREGIVERS FOR BREAST CANCER PATIENTS IN UBON RATCHATHANI PROVINCE MASTER OF SCIENCE PROGRAM IN PUBLIC HEALTH. ABSTRACT The purposes of this study were to study the sense of coherences, stress and coping methods of family caregivers for breast cancer patients in Ubon Ratchathani province. This research was descriptive research with cross-sectional survey study. Sample were 310 breast cancer caregivers in Ubon Ratchathani province using stratified random sampling and purposive sampling. Techniques. Tools used to collect data were questionaires about sense of coherences (29 items), stress (20 items), and coping methods (36 items) Data were analyzed by computer program for frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The Results showed that 1. The overall sense of coherence in family caregivers for breast cancer patients was at moderate level (X=4.56 S.D.=0.55) In term of meaningfulness at was at high level (X=5.21, S.D.=0.91), comprehensibility was at moderate level (X=4.46, S.D.=0.75), and manageability was at moderate level (X=4.09, S.D.=0.65). 2. The overall Stress of family caregivers for breast cancer patients was at moderate level (X=39.26, S.D.= 11.85). 3. reast cancer patients were at moderate level (X=2.57, S.D.=0.64) ; confrontative was at moderate level (X=2.96, S.D.=0.90), supportive and the palliative were at moderate level (X=2.60, S.D.=0.69), and emotive was at low level (X=1.95, S.D.=0.54). In conclusion, the overall sense of coherences, stress and coping methods of family caregivers for breast cancer patients were at moderate level. It is possible that family caregivers for breast cancer patients can accept and understand the illness and death as the truth of life that everyone must face. Therefore, it can release adherence. This will result in encourage family caregivers for higher sense of coherence, reduced (6) stress and better coping problems, useful for both family caregivers and breast cancer patients.
